ABOUT ME
Putting My Experience
to Work
My name is Gerard Leeman, and I am running in the special election for Town Council on Tuesday June 24, 2025.
I owe much to the Wakefield community that welcomed me and my wife in 2007 and has proven to be a perfect place to raise our two daughters. Though I have insights and opinions about the many issues facing the town from the experiences listedvon this site and other media sources, I hope you will support me because of my commitment to work together on the Council and be a bridge for voters to town government. I feel that philosophy is what we need in order to keep Wakefield an ideal place to live.
Past Service
I previously served on the Town’s Finance Committee, including a term as chair. I served on the subcommittees for financial forecasting, the police department, health insurance, and Wakefield Public Schools (WPS). I had the honor of representing the Finance Committee in front of Town Meeting and had to answer very direct and well-informed questions from attendees on critical topics. I left the FinComm when my wife, Amy, was elected to the School Committee.
Equally important to Amy and me, however, have been the volunteer opportunities outside of town government that have allowed us to meet so many people and understand their Wakefield experiences. These activities include youth sports coaching, charity drives, community-wide events, public space cleanup efforts, scouting, dance and theatre arts clubs. Those opportunities came to us because we valued the good judgement and motives of those around us and were inspired by them.
